CHALLENGER Jaguar E-Type Replica

Factory built Triple C Challenger 1988
Replica of S1 Jaguar E Type made of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP)

 It's got a stainless steel exhaust, new COC fuel tank, new brake calipers on the rear, new battery and comes with 11 months MOT, tax exempt.
Also a 5 speed reconditioned gearbox fitted when I purchased the car, 2 recently overhauled SU Carburetors on the 4.2 engine which never fails to start.
.
I had an additional switch fitted to operate the radiator fan to anticipate any overheating in stationary traffic.
Very fast and fun to drive and extremely cheap to insure - £120 per year fully comp for 38 year old male.
Due to the car's lightweight construction, it's fairly fuel efficient too, running on Unleaded petrol with an octane boosting additive.
A brilliant rust-free cheap to run alternative E-type which is hugely enjoyable to drive, especially with the top-down in the summer.

E-Type Challenger.
My Challenger 'E' type replica, was built by Northern Challenger, from whom I bought it in1993, It has covered 11,000 miles. The donor car was an XJ6 S2, so most mechanicals are Jaguar. The colour is Jaguar Cobalt Blue metallic and in addition to the hood (hardly used) is a full centre zipped tonneau cover.

The 4.2 Jaguar engine runs on 2 carbs with Pertronix ignition; also fitted is a solenoid valve to the AED's fuel feed. Transmission is manual with overdrive. Silencers are stainless steel and the chassis tube is galvanised. COC bespoke stainless steel petrol tank and extended handbrake lever are fitted. It has always been garaged and never deliberately been used in the rain.

After MOT failure in 2005 the rear suspension was dismantled and new UJs, discs and pads fitted. Since then it been SORNed through illness, but every time I go in the garage a little voice whispers "Please drive me" -  which is why it's for sale! Now MOT'd until July 2010

A very nice example in Primrose with black interior. Fitted with a Jaguar 4.2 engine with triple SU carburation and 5 speed manual gear box. The interior trim was renewed about 2 years ago and the mohair hood is in good condition. Countess E type Coupe Replica

This car is believed to be the only surviving "Countess" which was produced in Wigan by Kingfisher Mouldings between 1982 and 1986. It was the first E-Type replica built by Triple C in Saint Austell, Cornwall and was the inspiration for the Challenger Roadster which followed this first build.

The mechanicals are believed to be Ford Cortina with a 2100cc Pinto Engine and 4 speed gearbox.

This modern interpretation of the Jaguar E Type by Challenger was built by marque specialist DJB Performance. Under a high quality fibreglass bodyshell moulded from a genuine E Type 3.8 roadster, the car uses Challenger’s own steel semi-monocoque chassis allied to completely refurbished components from a Series II XJ6 donor saloon; unlike Jaguar’s E Type , however, the car uses a tubular front spaceframe with coil spring suspension, while at the rear the XJ6 subframe/suspension has been modified to correct E Type dimensions. Power comes from a standard 220bhp, fully rebuilt 3.8 litre Mk X engine which, due to the Challenger’s low weight, provides E Type performance via the XJ6 gearbox. Finished in Signal Red with black hide and duck hood, and having covered under 2,000 miles since being build, the car is described as excellent.

A very nice example of a Jaguar XJ6 based Challenger built and run by the current owner since 1990. Recently fitted with a VSE 4.2 sports engine which is mated to a five - speed gearbox. The car has covered 26000 miles since it was built and approx 3000 miles on the new engine. Chrome Wire wheels fitted with new Vredestein tyres, complete with soft top and removable hard top. This car is in great condition and runs brilliantly. A few small things need attention e.g. some of the spokes need re-chroming but not very noticeable. The car has had new brakes, new radiator, new battery including shut of switch for winter. New car cover, new tyres, new mohair hood new 14" steering wheel (not fitted) . Thousands spent, receipts in hand. The car is based on a Daimler sovereign with a massive 4.2 litre engine and weighing only 1.4 tonnes this car is very quick and great fun. Challenger E Type 4.2 Ser 1- In gorgeous opalescent blue, the best colour. Thousands spent. New magnolia seats, new chrome w/w, rechromed bumpers/lights,new navy hood (needs finishing). 4.2 Jag engine, 4 sp g.box + o/d, XJ6 running gear, u/body stone chip treatment, MOT. Fantastic looking car. The car is on a Q plate but still has the opportunity to apply for dated plate with paper work just not had the time. MOT present but on a SORN at present as I am not using it. This stunning car was built with no expense spared, utilising Jaguar running gear and many original glass and trim items. Powered by a Jaguar 4.2 straight six engine running on triple SU carbs, as fitted to many of the originals. Four speed manual gearbox with overdrive, twin exit exhaust pipe, Kenlow hot start system, triple wipers, original dashboard and interior layout finished in tan leather and bound carpets. Smiths instruments, Mota Lita wood rim steering wheel, CD player (plus original style radio) and heater. "Knock on" chrome wire wheels with new chrome spinners, chrome bumpers with overiders, Jaguar tool kit with original spinner removal tool and copper hammer, Mo-hair hood with cover, factory hard top with storage bag.
